The Sparhawk Summer Slam – Summer 2009

 

Many of you remember the great Sparhawk Marathon Day Parties we used to have. Twenty-two kegs of beer, 200 lbs of sausage, chicken and hamburgers, a 64 team bracket Beirut tournament and all of it happening right on the Marathon route.  Unfortunately our friend sold that house and the event came to an abrupt and unfulfilling end. 

 

The Marathon Day party really started as a summer excuse to party with the people we met on the winter pub crawl. The Ying to our yang if you will.  Well for a few years we’ve been without our yang, but that’s all going to end this summer.

 

The Sparhawk Summer Slam will be a weekend camping trip in Western Mass or Southern Vermont/ New Hampshire or even Connecticut.  But as always we’re obliged to ad an element of competition. Some people like to call these types of activities drinking games. We prefer to refer to them as leisurely physical competitions while properly hydrating. What ever you want to call it this is going to be another phenomenal weekend. Just getting out of the city and camping and partying with a huge group of friends.  Think of the east coast version of Burning Man in its infant stage.

 

So what’s the slam part?  Ah, the slam is KAN JAM. That is, the greatest backyard summer game ever invited. Imagine horseshoes meets Frisbee meets a one-handed-alley-oop-dunk competition – all while not spilling your drink.

 

Yes welcome to the world of KAN JAM.  Mixed into all the eating and drinking and general camping/partying we’ll be doing, the day will be filled with the Sparhawk Slam Tournament.  I won’t get into all the rules and how you score points just yet.  If you’d like to research it you can Google KAN JAM – though note that our rules require you to play with one hand only (as your other hand must always be holding your drink).

 

Of course we’ll have Beirut tables, music and other activities to distract you between jamming your mouth with food and drink. 

 

We’re currently looking for a large farm, private property or camp site in MA, NH, VT or CT to rent for the event. If you happen to know of a location that would fit well please send information to support@sparhawkevents.com
